Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

The federal holiday was first signed into law by former President Ronald Reagan on November 2, 1983, and the holiday was first observed on January 20, 1986. On this day, a trend has emerged where Americans and advocates across the country engage in a day of service, dialogue and honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
